Giulia Lombardo: The Illustrator Behind Zachary and the Great Potato Catastrophe
What I find really exciting about being an author of children’s picture books is the chance to collaborate with different illustrators and artists from all over the world, and in Zachary’s case, an illustrator who hails from the city known as the birthplace of the Renaissance—Florence, which is the capital of Tuscany in Italy. A place I haven’t visited yet, but is definitely in my bucket list of places to visit someday.
Working with Giulia on this project has been an absolute joy. And I am very happy with the outcome of our collaboration. She’s such a gem of an illustrator because not only is she talented but also super cool and down-to-earth, which made communicating and working with her a breeze.
I am keeping my fingers crossed that this is just the beginning of our collaboration. I sure hope Giulia and I will be able to work together again on another picture book in the near future.
