2022 has been a challenging year for many of us. Here in Europe, we are dealing with the worst inflation we’ve seen in a long time, the rising cost of power and imported goods, higher mortgage rates, and so on. But there are also things that I am grateful for and as the year draws to a close, I would like to focus on the good things that did happen this year.
Five of my children’s books garnered a total of 74 literary awards at the end of 2022. My three most recent books scooped a number of awards, and I am just incredibly grateful.
Thank you to all the award-giving bodies in the US and the UK for recognizing my books and for giving self-published books a chance to be seen, read, and considered for an award. The support and exposure you give to unknown independent and self-published authors like me means a lot.
Thank you to the esteemed judges, the readers, and reviewers who read my books, wrote reviews, and posted them online.
Thank you to my fellow independent authors and self-publishers who gave my books a shout-out, wrote reviews, and left words of encouragement on my social media channels.
I am eternally grateful to all of you.
I am looking forward to the year ahead, to writing new stories, finishing the ones I started, and releasing new books into the world.
And to all of my social media followers and supporters, readers, book bloggers and reviewers, my fellow creatives—artists, illustrators, writers—and most especially to you, who’s reading this right now, thank you. My heart is full. Here’s to chasing our dreams in 2023 and making them happen.
